Reinstating history by continuing a property’s adaptation

Absolute Architecture were briefed to continue the historical journey. We reinstated the walled garden and designed three outbuildings and a greenhouse that offered multi-functional spaces in which the homeowner could operate their business. We paid the highest level of attention to the existing building to ensure our design continued and enhanced the historical journey with some stunning traditional features including an A-symmetric oak framed barn.

Location:  Reading

Materials: We used traditional joinery to build the oak frame. Additional materials include the slate roof and cast-iron detailing on the guttering.

Friends on the project: Hartley Botanics created and built the bespoke handmade aluminium greenhouse. Hartwood Oak Buildings Ltd brought the stunning oak frame to life and Donovan Construction were the contractors on site.

We love: That we have recreated history by reinstating the walled garden. We equally love the flexible space created by the A-symmetrical oak structure which has enabled the homeowner to grow their business from home.
