Split-level extension perfectly complements this urban cottage in Oxfordshire
This little urban cottage in Oxfordshire was packed with character until you reached the kitchen, where things got a little sad and dark. The homeowners wanted to freshen up the space so that it truly reflected their sense of style and living.
Absolute Architecture listened closely to the homeowners wants and needs, so it’s no wonder when we showed them a design option, they instantly loved it. The plan was to build a split-level extension that connected the cottage across all floors and enhanced the eclectic feel of the property.
Location: Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire
Materials: Absolute Architecture salvaged and reused anything of charm and interest, retaining existing openings and windows and reframing them in unusual ways. Crittal style windows were used to add to the vintage feel.
Clever aspects: The double height space is the clever bit here, transforming the small cottage with a much more unconventional use of space.
Friends on the project: We worked closely with the homeowners to combine and montage an array of vintage finds. Our key contractor for this Oxfordshire home was:
- Roman Building Design were the main contractors for the build.
We love: The eclectic and slightly eccentric feel of this home is cosy and stunning. It is absolutely individual and born of this family.
