Renovation and two extensions transform 1930s residential home in Berkshire
Though a large and beautiful home, this property had been lived in by the same owner since the 1930’s. With little having been done to the property for such a long time, it was in need of some TLC.
Absolute Architecture helped the current owners renovate from top to bottom, adding a spacious kitchen extension with covered outside terrace. An additional extension gave this home a wonderful a master suite and living room area.
Location: Newbury, Berkshire
Materials: A traditional approach was applied with a sandstone coloured render and sash casements. This contrasted wonderfully with the contemporary bifold doors at the rear.
Clever aspects: Bringing top light into the kitchen with a stylish roof lantern really brings this space to life.
Friends on the project: Key suppliers and contractors for this 1930s renovation and extension were:
- Calco Construction, who were the main building contractors for the project
- The client’s landscape designers, who we worked with to design a beautiful complementary garden and outdoor entertaining space with glass canopy.
We love: We love the kitchen and outdoor entertaining space with the fireplace. The outdoor fireplace makes for the perfect location for a winter Glühwein and toasty marshmallow.
